Hey y’all! 👋Happy February! Around here February is a whole month dedicated to hearts, doily decorations, and generally amping up the theme of love. 💕
In line with that theme...here are some books we're reading this month that we love and you might too!
All Amazon links are affiliate links. If you click and buy, it supports my blog and pays me to keep writing! So please feel free to click through and buy a stack of books. 😉
(Or, add the incredibly helpful Chrome Library extension to your browser, and put a stack on hold while viewing them on Amazon. So handy!)
So I read all of book 3 and most of book 4 of the Gregor the Overlander series this weekend, catching up to my 9yo. We've been getting them from the library but may need to spring for a box set since I foresee rereads in our future!
(2/26/18 update - I read the last book this weekend and I was SO SAD to be finished with such a great series. Fortunately, the littler kids were clamoring to be involved with the story that their older brother and I kept talking about, so we got the audiobook from the library and are enjoying it from the beginning in that format!)
I'm also thinking this series would be a great family audiobook series to do on a road trip or just this summer. This series explores a lot of wonderful talking points for really good conversations. It also has excellent character development and a fascinating and dangerous world - all the elements of a gripping series!
We got 4 inches of snow this weekend, and I spent some time curled up reading The Suburban Micro-Farm and garden dreaming! I've got a bunch of tabs open looking at seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, I'm thinking about ways to compost without feeding our neighborhood squirrels and racoons, and I am putting out local feelers for manure. My garden attempt last year was...not successful...but it did help me spend more time outside, and we all enjoyed our attempts...also, hope springs eternal!
Other random things in my library stack...
The Everything Soapmaking Book. I made my first ever batch of soap three weeks ago, and y'all - I don't even know who I'm turning into this winter, but I am hooked. It is so amazing turning all the oils and lye and water into bars of actual soap with beautiful bubbles that we can all use and I can feel so good about knowing exactly what is in it and that I MADE IT MYSELF. I can't wait to make another batch and next time, add some scent and color! I started out totally plain my first time to get a little experience with the basic process - a very good idea and one I recommend strongly!
So that's what we're reading around here...what are YOU reading? I'd love to know and add to our reading lists!
